Shrek - The Series
Based loosely upon the children's book by Walter Steig, Shrek started out as an animated feature about an ogre who falls in love with the beautiful Princess Fiona and quickly became a smash hit in the box office with a couple of equally successful sequels.
The Shrek movies satirize everything from pop culture to fairy tales - especially fairy tales - poking good-natured (if sometimes a little twisted) fun at Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Three Blind Mice, Puss in Boots and even Cinderella! All accompanied by the commentary of an outrageous talking donkey.

- The word Shrek (Shreck) means "terror" in German and "fear" in Yiddish
- Robin Williams was offered a role in the film but turned it down.
